HANOI — Senior Officials Deepen ASEAN Digital Cooperation on Day 2 of ADGSOM

Hanoi, Vietnam — January 13, 2026 — Senior digital officials from across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) continued substantive discussions on Tuesday as the 6th ASEAN Digital Senior Officials' Meeting (ADGSOM) entered its second day of sessions in Hanoi, further advancing regional digital cooperation ahead of the higher-level ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting later this week. 

Expanded Working Sessions and Partner Dialogues

Delegates convened a series of ADGSOM working sessions with key dialogue partners, including China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, India, the European Union, Russia and the Asia-Pacific Telecommunication Union (APT). 

These sessions focused on strengthening international cooperation frameworks for digital transformation — from shared standards and best practices to collaborative policies supporting digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and innovation ecosystems. 

Officials also exchanged insights on priorities for regional cooperation in the coming decade, including aligning efforts on digital policy, skills development, governance frameworks, and enabling environments for digital solutions across ASEAN. 

Preparing ASEAN for Next-Phase Digital Integration

The discussions on Tuesday built directly on the preparatory work started on Day 1 — including reviewing and evaluating progress on key ASEAN Digital Masterplan initiatives — and helped shape the technical basis for ministerial-level decisions expected later in the week. 

Officials emphasized the need to sustain momentum toward a more integrated and intelligent ASEAN digital ecosystem that supports data governance, cross-border cooperation, and public-private engagement across the region. X`

Looking Ahead: Ministerial and Thematic Events

ADGSOM's second day marked a crucial phase in finalizing reports, recommendations and cooperative proposals that will be submitted to the 6th ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting (ADGMIN), scheduled to open on January 15. 

In addition to the ministerial summit, the wider event includes thematic discussions and the ASEAN Digital Awards 2026 showcase, where standout digital solutions and innovations from across the region will be recognized. 

Vietnam's leadership as ADGSOM chair this year continues to underscore Hanoi's role in steering ASEAN digital cooperation toward an inclusive, resilient and forward-looking digital future.
