Hanoi, Vietnam — January 14, 2026 — The 6th ASEAN Digital Senior Officials' Meeting (ADGSOM) wrapped up its third and final day in Hanoi on Wednesday, with senior digital officials from ASEAN member states reinforcing regional cooperation frameworks and finalizing technical recommendations for the upcoming ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting (ADGMIN).
Focus on Policy Harmonization and Implementation
Over the three days from January 12–14, delegates from the 10 ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Secretariat, along with partner representatives, engaged in deliberations aimed at strengthening coordination on digital policy, harmonizing national approaches, and reviewing progress in priority cooperation areas such as cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, and skills development.
Key discussions on Wednesday centered on enhancing policy coherence and regional frameworks that reflect international best practices and ASEAN priorities — with emphasis on narrowing the digital divide, promoting innovation, and building digital capacity among youth and the broader workforce. Officials also underscored the importance of digital safety, resilience and security as ASEAN deepens its integrated digital ecosystem.
Final Technical Reviews & Recommendations
Joint Working Group and Governing Council sessions were held to review technical cooperation outcomes and discuss proposals for the next phase of ASEAN's digital agenda, particularly in preparation for the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2026–2030, which aims to build on the achievements of the ADM 2025 and ensure connectivity, coherence, and sustainability of ASEAN digital initiatives.
Participants agreed on a set of recommendations and technical documents that will be forwarded for consideration by ministers at the 6th ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting, scheduled to begin on January 15 in Hanoi. These recommendations are expected to shape strategic decisions on regional digital governance and cooperation in the coming years.
